PostNord TPL promotes sustainability with battery storage
At PostNord TPL, we have allocated space for a battery storage system at our Malmölandet logistics unit outside Norrköping. The battery, with a capacity of 2 MW and smart control from the energy service company CheckWatt, will contribute to grid stabilization.
The battery storage was commissioned in April and complements our existing 6.3 MW solar power system. Both the battery and the solar panels are owned by Swede Solar, but the electricity is used by us at PostNord TPL. By leasing the space and our existing grid connection, we enabled the installation.
– The battery allows us to utilize a larger share of the solar power produced on our roof while supporting the grid with various services. As the charging of electric trucks increases, the battery can also be used to shave the highest power peaks, says Bengt Ydebäck, Property Manager at PostNord TPL.
Both the battery and the solar power system will contribute with ancillary services to Svenska kraftnät. When electricity production exceeds or falls short of consumption, the grid becomes imbalanced, which can lead to power outages. The ancillary services balance the grid and maintain the correct frequency.
Through these initiatives, we at PostNord TPL continue to take environmental responsibility and contribute to a sustainable energy future. We look forward to being part of this positive development and continue delivering innovative solutions for both our customers and society.
